  2. …went to see a B24 and B29 with my father-in-law at Virginia Aviation Museum years ago (he flew both in the big one). I built plenty of models of these as a yout(h) but had never seen one in person. I recall being surprised at how small the WWII bombers were compared to current airliners.

    Well, unclenudie (shouldn’t that be uncleseminudie?), it was $12 to get on the tarmac and wait in line for a trip inside the bombers. We lacked cash but found we could go through the terminal and get close to the fighter and go up to the terminal’s observation deck for a view of the big boys.
