Thanks for coming to the show and for all the photos. That flash setup you have worked pretty good!

These would look better if I’d brought a 2nd flash for fill, but I didn’t want to be too ostentatious or bring a light stand…

The key item was #4, which allowed me to clamp the flash to a pole up about 9 feet high instead of using an ostentatious, waitress-tripping light stand. I think I’ll get me another one.

Total cost if I’d bought the flash new instead of used: $140. Made by child labor, perhaps — or more likely, “inscrutable” robots.

  3. It looks like a really nice venue. What a view! Nice looking crowd too, I’d fit right in and maybe even feel young again! I would have tried to dance with your red haired groupie but she probably would have dismissed me with a scowl as it seems she is directing her body language to a certain bands member, er band member. It’s good to see Boatdog playing on through the pain. I neckorize some of the audience as well. Big K bemusedly commenting on the underlying humor of the scene. O3 and Al looking generally pensive and wary, Alan paying close attention to the musical riffs while Paula chats it up with the “girls” and all the while the media crew of one making a few more much needed micro-adjustments to the elaborate photo setup. Good times.

  4. corndoggie Says:

Kinda hard to make micro-adjustments to a speedlight C-clamped nine feet high! I had to stand on Biggie’s shoulders each time. After five or six micro-adjustments he started to get a little annoyed…
