The host with the most

Hey, it’s nice to see you! Come on up, the party is gearing up. You found my address on the Boulevard!  Thanks for coming, we have snacks and beer, a case of Carling Black Label and some Pabst Blue Ribbon. Pat Benetar said she might show up to sing “Hit me with your best shot!” but if she flakes we have her on LP in stereo playing at full volume. The neighbors are being cool  about the noise Imageso far.

Those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end, we’d sing and dance forever and a day, we’d live the life we choose, we’d fight and never lose, for we were young and sure to have our way.

    Where is that guy, anyway?

Brings to mind the time I was walking down Boulevard on the way to this or a similar party at the G.’s and met an animator I knew who was carrying a 16-mm projector and some of his films. He was only too happy to tag along and give an impromptu screening.

    IMDB user review:

An excellent mixture of animation and real film from Rocket Films in 1984, directed by Phil Thrumbo and Steve Segal (which also plays the role of Mutchu, one of Lord Eggheads evil helpers). Segal also programmed the special effects in the endpart (using Commodore 64). The heroes of futuropolis are Captain Garth, Spud, Liutenant Luna and Cosmo. These four space cadets are sent to investigate series of mutations and destructions of peaceful worlds. The brain behind this chaos is Lord Egghead, the inventor of the “mutation ray”. Futuropolis is an excellent movie which contains a lot of great animated effects!

The role of “Spud” was played by Roto’s bud Kirk Condyles.

    (aka “Corndog”)

  5. rotobra Says:

Corndoggie always seems to know or be on a first name basis with so many famous or semi famous people. Kirk “Corndog” Codyles (pronounced, Con dealy us) Lived at the same time I did in the mid 70’s down in Key West. We often worked together doing demolition and haul off in between work at the theatre. Corndog was a good looking, strapping dude and mercurial, living fully in the moment, one minute a “hale fellow, well met” then next a violent menace. The last time I saw him was in NYC where he was looking for acting work, maybe the next Marlon Brando? Now he is an art photographer of some note living near the beach in New York state but I digress. The original question was, “where is this guy?” I don’t know the answer to that question but I do know what he is. He’s the salt of the earth is what. He should post to the Muse. The Daily Muse lists several authors who never post or who used to post but don’t anymore. I, for one, miss JSayles and who, pray tell, are “alargold” and “Living Fossil” ?

  6. corndoggie Says:

Can’t help you with Living Fossil, but stare at the other moniker and the answer will reveal itself.

  7. rotobra Says:

    OOOhh! I get it!
If alargold is listed as a Muse Author how come he never writes anything? Other folks who have posted in the past have been run off presumably not by the relatively innocent ribaldry but perhaps by an excess of rancor, most certainly by some rank nonsense, a general waning interest or simply mounting boredom? I can understand why some commentators have had a few feathers ruffled or how their knickers might have been put into a twist by some of our intercourse but we were supposed to be tougher than that and have thicker skins. Thinking of all the people who I used to enjoy conversing with on The Muse and who have since vanished makes me feel sad and lonely. I know you are reading this, just lurking back stage waiting for your cue, so I’m asking you, no pleading for you to come home to The Muse. Yes, this means you 03, Jude, jmsayles, Bosco, Gourdfella and others. I could write another short story to wake the turtles from their hibernation but that might be more of a symptom than a cure.

  8. Thanks Roto – Yes I do suppose some have been run off and I also would like to see our forum return to its hay day. I have tried to give free reign and perhaps that’s too much for some. As for Lars, His name on the list is the result of my pleading. He has promised to contribute though.
